This summer I’ll be doing workshops in Michigan, and California. In June I’ll be at The West Michigan Clay, and in August at the Mendocino Arts Center in Northern California.

Making workshop and Firing Workshop at the Mendocino Art Center

Loosen Up! Making workshop; August 8 to 11

In this workshop John will introduce techniques to help the students loosen up and make more free flowing forms. Working both on the wheel and hand-building, often combining the two, John will demo many varied ways to take your work in a whole new direction. It's a great opportunity for students to expand and develop their skills.

Woodfiring Extravaganza! Firing Workshop; August 15 to 17

In this hands-on firing workshop, students will get the chance to load and fire both the wood-fired train kiln and the wood-fired soda kiln. Students will learn stacking strategies to account for flame flow and ash accumulation. Students will also be required to take stoking shifts throughout the 48 hour cycle.
